Handling Firearms

Firearms must be pointed down range when inside a shooting booth and pointed barrel up or in the range issued caddy when anywhere else in the facility.

Do not bring loaded or jammed firearms into the lobby or lounge(s). If you need assistance with your firearm, please leave it in the booth facing downrange and contact the range personnel for assistance.

Firearms may never be uncased anywhere in the facility except at the firing line, the cleaning area, and in the classroom (if supervised by an instructor). Firearms must be unloaded and the action open anywhere other than the firing line.

Do not under any circumstances go forward of the firing line. If an item has fallen beyond your reach, please contact the range personnel for assistance.

Do not exchange firearms with anyone on another lane. Switch shooters not firearms.

Keep your finger off the trigger and outside of the trigger guard until you are on target and ready to fire.

Keep your firearms unloaded until you are at the firing line. Firearms must be safe (unloaded – magazines removed and actions opened) when entering or exiting the facility.

All rounds must remain within the confines of the range. Shooters may shoot only from the firing line at the target in line with their position. Do not shoot the ceiling, the deflector plates, or the target retriever. (Damage to said equipment may be charged to the shooters account) All shots must go straight into the backstop.

Immediately stop shooting when anyone calls “Cease firing.”

COLD Range: Shooters must check with others to ensure firearms are unloaded, actions open and firearms laid down on the shooting bench. No one is permitted to handle firearms or stand at the firing line while there is a cold range.

HOT Range: Shooters must check with others to ensure there is no one down range; when the range is declared “HOT” shooters are permitted to commence firing. Only shooters are permitted on the firing line. Shooters may move safe guns to and from the firing line only when the range is “HOT.”
